In Minneapolis, the mayor has pledged to significantly increase spending on public water systems. The mayors of New York and Salt Lake City have launched major educational efforts to restore confidence in tap water. San Francisco and the state of Illinois have cancelled major bottled water contracts. Cities have taken these actions at the urging of their residents.

CAI has assembled the lessons learned from these grassroots efforts, to save you a step, and to give you the resources you need to get your city to Think Outside the Bottle. The kit provides you sample letters to elected officials, fact sheets on bottled water, and a list of steps you can take to move your mayor and legislators.
